The core platform of IKED is the Nordic region, consisting of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
Outside the Nordic area, partnerships or contact points have been established with institutions in a great number of countries. Arrangements for co-operation are flexible and will be further developed and formalised in the future.

Cooperating International Organisations:
IKED has established formal or informal cooperation with a number of international organisations. It has, for instance, engaged in joint activities with the European Commission, the OECD, the World Bank, and the United Nations University, on various occasions. Closer forms of cooperation have been established with the Nordic Council of Ministers, headquarters in Copenhagen and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Geneva.

IKED network:
IKED's network, encompassing both the public and the private spheres, provides a broad base of experience and guidance which IKED engages and expands in efforts to support the development and better use of knowledge worldwide.
