..:: Nordic Connection
The Nordic countries belong to the most advanced in industrial development, innovation and the use of new technologies. The level of economic efficiency as well as social well-being is high in most respects. Nevertheless, in recent decades the Nordic countries have been struggling to capture the full returns from their seemingly advantageous position.

While challenges remain, the Nordic countries are widely viewed as constructive speaking partners. Their culture is marked by a deep-rooted belief in the value of open dialogue, exchange of experience, and shared insights. The Swedish government and Nordic partners, including the Nordic Council of Ministers contributed financially to the establishment of IKED in 2003.

Located in the Nordic region, IKED has been set up to lay the basis for a different kind of international organization. Initially formed in 2001 as a non-profit association, IKED is a flexible, non-governmental organization for international co-operation. In this task, IKED engages those competencies - public, private and academic - that can contribute to identifying factors that most crucially limit our capacities to create more innovative, creative and entrepreneurial societies. The challenges tend to cut across national borders, societal spheres, and policy-domains. IKED seeks to work with relevant stakeholders that wish to help design and implement those measures which are critically needed for improving the situation.
