..:: Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in the Era of Knowledge, Innovation and Green Growth
This paper was prepared following an event in Astana organised by UNECE and hosted by the Government of Kazakhstan in Astana, October 2013. Engaging some 40 policy makers from the two countries, the event featured intensive discussions on critical policy issues, including whether the way forward is one of a "green" or a "grey" economy. IKED's paper reviews the nature of these countries' ongoing transition and argues for the importance of undertaking comprehensive reforms to turn the challenges with a deteriorating environment into a source of opportunities.
