..:: Nature-based solutions
Together with European and Non-European partners, IKED has taken the initiative to form a consortium developing path-breaking nature-based solutions to foster "inclusive and innovative communities" in response to the key issues of modern cities, including problems with fragmentation, multi-culturalism and disharmony. Named URBINAT (for "Urban", "Inclusive" and "Nature"), the project brings together diverse strands of academic expertise as well urban planners, practioners and corporate actors. Concepts such as living labs and health corridors play an important part. The project further entails an important element of citizen engagement, which is one of the areas IKED contributes intensively to. The conceptual framework can be illustrated as follows:

While still in formation, URBINAT already raised strong energy among the participating organisations, including cities such as Brussels, Copenhagen, Nantes, Porto, and Sofia in Europe. The project team is currently in the process of structuring the process ahead. Further information will be presented shortly.
