..:: Global Trust Center International Council Meeting
[November 19-20, 2008 - Malmö, Sweden]
IKED contributed to the preparations of the Global Trust Center's second International Council meeting, which took place in Malmö, November 2008. The Council members, representing some 30 countries, as well as the representatives of partner organizations and observers from international organizations, assessed the ongoing policy work to strengthen the standing of the individual human being in the digital world. Whereas the Global Trust Center's Global Policy has been refined at the overarching level, ongoing collaboration with governments and the private sector is in the process of working out its practical implementation. This combination of an independent and pragmatic process for policy advancement, on the one hand, and hands-on work to nail down the concrete issues and practical implications in policy implementation on the other hand, is a requirement for meeting with the increasingly challenging issues in ICT. The policy is poised to generate significant benefit to the public and business alike in the years to come.
